Porcelijn's Continuo

This performance combines a modern-instrument chamber orchestra with a fortepiano, which adds a pseudo-continuo part to the score. They claim no historical justification for this, letting the results speak for themselves.

The booklet states that the engineers have boosted the sound of the fortepiano, which would have been inaudible otherwise. Even so, it's only obvious in the quieter passages.

It's hard to know how to present this objectively, but here are two relatively long clips, without further comment. Each clip is paired with another performance of similar tempo; listening to the reference performance first is recommended, unless you have a score in hand. (You can also read the score online in large and small formats.)
